The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us.

We can’t expect to be on autopilot for too long. The fact is, most of us don’t even know that we’re on autopilot. A lot of people are on autopilot for more than a couple of years. We just don’t know it. We think we do, but we don’t. That’s what the famous “autopilot theory” is all about.
